Bear trainingWhat is it?

Schools in England are being invited to bid for funding from the DfE’s Leadership, Equality and Diversity Fund to help boost diversity in their senior leadership teams.

Successful schools will be awarded funding to help remove barriers that stop individuals, including women and those from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, reaching senior leadership roles.

This is a real problem. Figures from the DfE show that  just 2.4% of headteachers are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and only 36% of secondary school heads are currently women.

Who can apply?

Groups of schools are invited to apply. Groups should be a minimum of three schools.

What is available?

Grants of up to £30,000 are available to support local, school-led initiatives. Funding is based on participation levels.

How do I apply?

There is an online application form to complete, available on the DfE website. Please read the guidance notes before applying.

The application round closes at 5pm on 23rd April 2015.
