What is it?

Applications are invited for ideas that inspire children’s education. Ideas could involve whole classes, small group or individuals. It could provide exciting after-school activities or promote the innovative use of technology. Recent winning projects have included peer tutoring, story-based orienteering using tablets, and kinesthetic learning through sports.

Who can apply?

Any teacher in England is welcome to apply.

What makes a winning application?

The competition organisers provide some good guidance for writing a winning application.

It should provide:

  • Clear objectives
  • A sensible, transparent budget
  • The potential for expansion
  • Innovation
  • A way of targeting disadvantaged students.

What is available?

Winning ideas with receive up to £15,000 and other support to help get projects off the ground. The funding can be used to cover staff time dedicated to the project or ‘backfilled’ costs, equipment required or third party resources.

How do I apply?

There is a two-stage application process. The deadline for Stage One applications is 24th April 2017 at noon. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to present your idea to a panel of Let Teachers SHINE experts in May 2017.
