Apply for funding to run an engineering related educational project

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) have merged their grant programmes to create the Engineering Education Grant Scheme. The scheme provides support for UK-based educational projects that aim to increase engineering knowledge in young people aged 5 to 19.

Projects that support STEM learning and career awareness, as well as those that improve wider engineering literacy, are welcomed.

Who can apply?

  • Schools.
  • IET or IMechE members.
  • STEM organisations.

Applications from teams with diverse expertise, a range of skills and from a variety of sectors are particularly welcomed.

What is the funding offer?

There are two levels of funding available. Awards of up to £5,000 (inclusive of any applicable VAT) are available for standard applications to the fund and up-to-four awards of £15,000 are available each year.

Applications for funding must be endorsed by an authorised representative of the IET or IMechE. You can contact the scheme organisers for contact details. For a successful application, projects should be developed in collaboration with the authorised endorser.

How do I apply?

The funding round opens on 2nd February 2015. The closing date for applications is 3rd March 2015. Projects must take place between 1st May 2015 and 30th April 2016. Applications must be submitted by email to the grant scheme manager.

You can read the guidelines and assessment criteria to help you write a winning application – details can be found on the IET website. The application form can also be downloaded here.

Good luck!
