What is it?

Schools can apply for a grant for geography field trips from the Frederick Soddy Trust.

What is available?

Grants usually range from £200 to £550.

Who can apply?

Primary and secondary schools can apply. The age range of children and young people supported is 5 to 18.

It’s worth noting that priority will be given to trips or expeditions that have a strong emphasis on human geography, although physical geography trips will also be supported. Their objetive should be the study of ‘the whole life of an area’. Preference will be given to schools applying for funds for trips in the UK and Ireland.

How do I apply?

There is no formal application. In no more than 500 words, you should make your case for funding, including your objectives, brief details of the plan, administrative arrangements and an itemised budget. You should also send a map. This needs to be signed by the lead teacher of the project and by the head teacher and sent to: The Frederick Soddy Awards, c/o The Geographical Association, 160 Solly Street, Sheffield S1 4BF.

The deadline for applications is 18th January 2016.
